Teamwork: The Core of Success

In an outstanding display of skill and teamwork, the Providence Christian Sea Beggars secured a comprehensive 5-0 victory over the Justice College Lions on September 19, 2024. The game, held at Arcadia City Hall Field, showcased the Sea Beggars' strong offensive capabilities and solid defensive play.

The Lady Sea Beggars took an early lead in the first half, with Sutton Denny scoring an unassisted goal at the 17:35 mark. The second half saw a flurry of goals from Alyssa Acuna, Heidi Vander Meulen, and Sutton Denny, all finding the back of the net. Denny proved to be a key player for the Sea Beggars this game, scoring two goals, the second one assisted by Maggie Contreras, and assisting in another. Alyssa Acuna also made significant contributions to the team's success, finding the back of the net twice and providing an assist. Contreras and Jade Tanguy assisted on Acuna's goals, showcasing the team's strong cohesion and communication.

The Lady Sea Beggars' offense was firing on all cylinders, recording a total of 29 shots, 21 of which were on the frame. On the defensive end, Providence Christian goalkeeper Kassandra Ramirez had a solid performance, making three saves and keeping a clean sheet throughout the game. Helping Ramirez keep the Lions from finding pay dirt was the back line of Georgia Hoogstra, Janelle Lopez, Riley Cervantes, and Payten Dobrick. The Lady Sea Beggars defensive line kept the fierce Lion offense at bay, in spite of their repeated tenacious attacks.

Overall, the Lady Sea Beggars' strong performance showcased their strength and skill on the field, highlighting their potential for success in the conference. Providence's cohesive play and scoring ability make them a formidable opponent for any team in the conference, earning them a well-deserved win and continuing to strive for excellence in each match they play. 

The Lady Sea Beggars are back on the field on Friday, September 27th, against Simpson University at 10 a.m. as they kick off their CalPac Conference games on Villa Parke Field.
