About Us

 

Providence Christian College Athletics exists to facilitate and deepen the stated vision of the college: to equip students to be firmly grounded in biblical truth, thoroughly educated in the liberal arts, and fully engaged in their church, their community, and the world for the glory of God and for service to humanity.

Athletics aren’t JUST fun for us. Athletics are a way in which our students can glorify God through team camaraderie, spiritual discipleship and physical discipline. Why is that important? Because a 2010 report in Science Daily cited a medical study from the American Heart Association that links physical fitness to better school performance.

At Providence you will be challenged to be the best that you can be. We come alongside student-athletes to help them become the women and men that God has called them to be. But it takes a willing spirit, and something our school leadership calls “Godly Grit.”

To that end, our Athletic Department is committed to four foundational values:

G: Growth Mindset – We expect our student-athletes to be in church and chapel. But desire to see you develop an even closer relationship to God than you’ve ever had before. Our coaches are committed to fostering an environment where you can experience God’s amazing grace.

R: Resilient– It isn’t enough to have professors to provide an environment that challenges students academically if students are up for the challenge. Often “rigor” is used to describe a curriculum; we like to use it to describe our effort. We will rigorously study.

I: Intentional – Providence Christian College is a growing community of Christian college students. With half of our student body comprised of student athletes, our aim to see student-athletes take the lead in unifying our school across all boundaries: social, racial, economic and most certainly eliminating any perceived boundary between those who play sports and those who don’t.

T: Together – Providence Athletics is working to provide a first-class athletic experience to accompany the school’s vision to give you a top-tier liberal arts education. Your coaches and Athletic Department staff are working to create a context where you will have the joy of being part of a real team on which you will be proud to be a member.
